St Luke 2: “In the 6th month the Angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.” The temple of the Lord in the new covenant becomes the womb of Mary. She is the new ark of the covenant and the temple of the Presence. Fr Robbie Low explores this mystery of our faith in this his final mediation of this series for Advent.

St John 1: “There was a man sent by God whose name was John. He came for testimony, to bear witness to the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light but came to bear witness to the light.” St John the Baptist testifies that he is not the Christ but he is ‘the voice of the one crying in the wilderness’ prophesied by the Prophet Isaiah. Fr Robbie Low continues our series of meditations for the Advent season.

Isaiah 40: “Comfort, comfort, my people. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem and cry to her that she has served her term, her penalty is paid, she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins. A voice cries in the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God….” Advent is a time when the people of God long for our Jerusalem, our heavenly home, a liberation from sin, suffering and death, the final triumph of righteousness we are promised in Jesus Christ.
