Apologetics for the New Evangelisation 1 by Fr Guy de Gaynesford

Apologetics for the New Evangelisation Artwork for Podcast1. The Approach to Apologetics Part 1. ‘Always be ready to make your defence to anyone who demands from you an account of the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and reverence. Keep your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who abuse you for your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame.’ This well-known passage from the first letter of St Peter (Chapter 3: 15-16) describes the proper disposition of the evangelist. Fr Guy considers what it is to make an ‘apology’ for the faith, and notes how this has been necessary down through the centuries, not only today.

Creation and Fall, Virtue and Beatitude 2: The Fall by Fr Guy de Gaynesford

Find me in iTunes‘Sin is present in human history; any attempt to ignore it or to give this dark reality other names would be futile…Only the light of divine revelation clarifies the reality of sin and particularly of the sin committed at mankind’s origins. Without the knowledge Revelation gives of God we cannot recognize sin clearly and are tempted to explain it as merely a developmental flaw, a psychological weakness, a mistake, or the necessary consequence of an inadequate social structure’ (CCC 386-387). Fr Guy continues his exposition, looking at the reality of sin and its fatal consequences, and the outstanding gift of Christ’s redeeming work. ‘Where sin abounded, grace abounded all the more’ (Romans 5:20).

Creation and Fall, Virtue and Beatitude 1: Creation by Fr Guy de Gaynesford

Creation Fall Virtue Beatitude Artwork for PodcastWe are very pleased to be able to publish this series of lectures by Fr Guy de Gaynesford which demonstrate  the deep connection between Creation and the Fall and the redemptive work of Christ whose grace leads us to holiness – lives of virtue and beatitude – when we freely co-operate with it.  In this first talk Fr Guy delves into the Church’s catechesis on Creation with reference to the early chapters of Genesis, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the new encyclical of Pope Francis, Laudato Si. With his characteristic clarity Fr Guy explains the deep unity between the ‘first’ creation and the ‘New Creation’ – Christ – the New Adam.
