“In many and various ways God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son.” Hebrews 1: 1-2. CCC 65 continues: ‘Christ, the Son of God made man, is the Father’s one, perfect, and unsurpassable Word. In him he has said everything: there will be no other word than this one.’ In this lecture, Fr Guy de Gaynesford examines our belief that the historical person of Jesus of Nazareth is God made man: the second person of the Trinity. He gives an overview of the controversies in the early Church in this regard, culminating in the famous Christological definition of the Council of Chalcedon (451AD). A crucial lecture to further understanding of the Catholic faith.
